LAURA THOMPSON

CURATORIAL ASSOCIATE, BERLIN

Laura is a curator, writer and arts manager based in Berlin. With a passion for promoting art from the Global South she has played an instrumental role in the realisation of exhibitions, events and the commissioning of private and public artworks in Australia and internationally.

Most recently she has managed projects in Venice, London, Cologne, Bern and Paris; and directed a private gallery in Berlin for over three years.

In London, Laura worked with Anthony d’Offay on projects for Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland and later as Assistant Project Manager for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Returning to Melbourne, she worked with gallerist Anna Schwartz and later as Studio & Publications Manager for artist Brook Andrew.

Across 2014–16 Laura curated a number of independent exhibitions and worked closely with artists assisting with professional development, and the delivery of projects from concept to completion. Laura has a background in scientific photography, holds a Masters in Arts Management, and has completed post-graduate curatorial studies at Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
